Mendes Gonçalves is based in Golegã. Get to know a bit more about our town by looking at the following photos...

"At the heart of Portugal, in Ribatejo, where the Lezíria is crossed by the rivers Tagus and Almonda, Golegã is famously known as the "Horse Capital", being also famous for its Horse Fair (St. Martin's Fair).
According to early Portuguese history, the town was a stopping point for travellers that would stay at an inn owned by a Galician woman - for this reason, the town was called Venda da Galega, hence the name "Golegã"", in Mundo Português, February 15th 2008.
